Welcome to the Unitarian Montessori School (UMS for short)!  We are situated in an award winning building surrounded by beautiful nature in the central part of East Brunswick.  We are a private non-profit Montessori School and a fully accredited by the American Montessori Society and licensed by the Bureau of Licensing of the New Jersey Division of Youth and Family Services

Our Philosophy

Unitarian Montessori School blends a nurturing environment with an engaging curriculum that fosters independent thinking and a love of learning among children. Our skilled educators utilize the Montessori method to create a supportive, exploratory atmosphere that celebrates each child's unique journey.

Mission

Our school's mission is  to create a learning environment where children are encouraged to be confident and creative while following the principles of the Montessori pedagogy.
It is our vision to instill a strong foundation of love for learning in each child, recognizing his or her individuality and innate gifts. We want our children to grow into independent thinkers, to be able to feel confident in asking questions, and to develop mutual respect for each other and our planet. The heart of our school lies in the philosophy that children come first.

Kindergarten

Our kindergarten readiness program prepares young learners for the transition to elementary school. By fostering critical thinking, collaboration, and foundational academic skills, we ensure that children feel confident and well-prepared for future learning.

Virtual Tour

Our son spent three years at Unitarian Montessori School and absolutely thrived. He especially enjoyed kindergarten and learned so much that prepared him well for public school. The time he spent here will always be cherished. The teachers and staff are caring and dedicated, and the playground shaded by trees creates a beautiful natural setting. The school is part of the pine barrens ecosystem where even wild blueberries grow. This connection to nature shows children how everything is linked, which is such an important lesson for young minds
